Leave People Better for the Encounter

My commitment is that I'm going to leave people better for the encounter. My focus is on what I need to do in order to show up and continue to stay the course and make sure that happens in each interaction I have.

What I have found is that the idea of leaving someone better for the encounter… it's not a technique. It has to be who you are as a human being, and then you simply allow who you are to come out through the work that you do.

That looks like showing up to each conversation in a way where you focus on the other person. Where you see them as a creative, resourceful, and whole human being who has their own vision, mission, calling, passions, and ambitions in life. That looks like showing up to each conversation ready to listen and engage from a place of genuine curiosity.

Showing up in this way is such a big pattern interrupt in someone’s day… simply because it is so rare. 90% of people are not actually present in their conversations. Therefore, your full presence and attention alone is distinguishing in a way that leaves a lasting impression.
